  Tourist tax under scrutiny as Edinburgh's festivals request exemption

  Holyrood's Local Government, Housing and Planning Committee began examining the plans on Tuesday with an announcement that councils could start charging for a fee on overnight visitors.
  David Weston, chairman of the Scottish Bed and Breakfast Association, warned that the charges - as they now stand - could "skew the way it behaves."

  HIT the Crerar 450

  Date: 17th - 22nd September Location: 450 round trip from Ballater
  
  HIT Trustee and Chief Executive of Crerar Hotels, Chris Wayne Wills, is undertaking a 450-mile fundraising cycle in aid of HIT Scotland. On Sunday 17th September Chris will head off from the Balmoral Arms in Ballater and will visit Thainstone House Hotel in Inverurie, The Golf View Hotel in Nairn, the Glencoe Inn, Oban Bay Hotel, the Isle of Mull Hotel, Loch Fyne Hotel in Inveraray and Dunkeld House Hotel before returning to the Balmoral Arms in Ballater on Friday 22nd September to complete the route.
