Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury's and Waitrose go out of Marmite over yeast shortage

A year after Unilever, the British producer, was forced to halt production because of the country's first national blockade, Britain's supermarkets are facing a Marmite shortage.

The producer Unilever was forced to stop production of the spread completely except for its 250g jars due to the deficiency.

Shelves up and down the nation are empty, with Sainsbury's and Ocado all but shut down online because of the nation-wide "drought"

Tesco, Morrisons and Waitrose have limited stock in the jars and smaller size jars that are used as pots.

Unilever said it hopes to have shelves packed again later this year, as the reopening of pubs and breweries is expected to boost beer output.
