Scotland's tourism and accommodation industry has celebrated "real show of commitment" after receiving £2 million of public funding to deliver 2000 of leading industry grants free of charge.

A new online training programme designed to help in-form talent across Scotland's troubled tourism and hospitality industries receives a financial boost following applications from thousands of staff who are currently on leave or due a redundancy.

Courses are run by hit (Scotland) with training on 'supervisor, management and governance' levels.

David Cochrane MBE, chief executive of hit Scotland, said:

'Part of the scheme will equip people with the skills they need to respond to future changes in tourism and hospitality facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic.

It has been a tough year for everyone, but this is a genuinely positive opportunity for the tourism and hospitality sectors to refresh themselves and learn new skills safely.'
