FSB calls for a new strategy to support UK hospitality sector

Monday, June 21, 2021

The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB) has released a new report urging the government to come forward with a new strategy to support the UK hospitality and tourism sectors.

Extend the cut in the VAT rate to 5 per cent for hospitality until March 2022 and cut £100 off the VAT bill for the whole of the business year to help firms in England.

Companies who sell food and drinks will be able to apply at home for a paving permit and pubs, cafés and restaurants will still be allowed to operate as takeaways.

More than half (56%) of small hospitality firms said that another rate hike would bolster their high demand.
