Job Description

An amazing opportunity has arisen for a passionate and skilled culinary pro to make their mark on the Olde Bell in Hurley and create the leading gastropub in the area!

Located in the beautiful Berkshire area, The Olde Bell is one of the oldest inns in England, dating back to 1135, and offers a fantastic backdrop for an enthusiastic Chef to deliver a locally inspired, high quality, and locally sourced restaurant concept. You would be given the unique opportunity to showcase your creativity and culinary flare, and to make it your pride and joy.

Importantly, we are looking for an experienced Chef who can successfully lead their team and deliver fantastic food, that is bursting with ideas, and who understands the demands of a busy kitchen. The Olde Bell includes a restaurant, cosy bar and lounge area, as well as a summer kitchen space, therefore offering lots of scope. Across the various areas, at its peak, the pub would be catering for up to 290 covers, therefore you can expect a busy kitchen!

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A OUS CHEF at THE OLDE BELL

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the Head Chef, you can expect your working day to include the following:

  • Showcasing your flare in the kitchen
  • Focusing on making the food offering your own
  • Leading your fantastic kitchen team
  • Compliance with food, health and safety regulations
  • Contribute to developing a passionate and skilled team
  • To support the Senior Management by ensuring the efficient and effective running of the kitchen and team
  • Delivering high volumes of high-quality food

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

We would love it if you

  • Have a real passion for food and menu development
  • Have previous experience of creating your own menus and concepts
  • Have knowledge of health and safety issues (COSHH etc.), and the ability to train and develop your team in these areas.
  • Team player and able to work in busy environments
  • Eye for detail and the ability to use own initiative
  • Please note, this role requires some flexibility with regards to working hours and willingness to work when required.
