A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A MAINTENANCE MANAGER AT THE PRINCIPAL YORK

What you'll be doing...

Reporting to the General Manager, you will effectively manage the general maintenance of the hotel building and ensure its services are operating to an optimum level. Working closely with every department, you'll be committed to maintaining a fully functioning and efficient hotel environment, with the emphasis on forward planning, routine maintenance programmes and prompt repairs. You will also be required to ensure that you keep always required paperwork up to date.

As our Maintenance Manager, you main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • People Management - coaching and mentoring our Maintenance team; implementing and monitoring training to ensure everyone is training to the highest standards within brand standards and managing performance.
  • Preventative Maintenance - investigating current processes to identify areas of improvement and implementing preventative maintenance programmes, continuous monitoring of the building infrastructure.
  • Reactive Maintenance - working on adhoc incidents to ensure safety of wider Hotel team and our guests whilst investigating cause of incidents.
  • Health and Safety - ensuring statutory compliance being met, in depth knowledge of Health and Safety legislation to ensure team is meeting legal standards and RBH policies.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

To succeed in the role of Maintenance Manager you will need the following qualities and skills.

  • Previous experience as a Maintenance or Facilities Manager within a hotel environment, within an older building is preferred.
  • Excellent organisation skills, managing administrative responsibilities of the role whilst also been confident in IT systems
  • Experience in all aspects of maintenance, Health and Safety and Fire regulations within a hotel.
  • Knowledge of appropriate hotel systems to support operational processes such as service optimisation tool.
  • Qualification in plumbing or electricity will be an advantage
  • Excellent organisation and time management skills.
  • Eye for detail and the ability to use your own initiative.
