U.S. fast food chain Wendy's is accelerating its expansion in Britain with plans to open delivery kitchens nationwide.

Wendy's said that the kitchens are mainly offered in cities in the US, Canada and the UK, where the hamburger chain has a lower number of stores.

"This partnership with Reef is testimony to our ambitions, the potential we see to grow our beloved brand and our quest to reach more customers in more ways," said Abigail Pringle, Wendy's Head of Development.

Wendy's said that its digital sales, the delivery and mobile orders for pickup will account for 7.5% of the retailer's total sales in the second quarter of this year.

This makes Reef Wendy the first franchisee in the United Kingdom.

According to NPD Group, deliveries represented 3.3% of US restaurant traffic in the year ending in June 2019.

The group returned in June to set up a restaurant in Reading with openings in places including Stratford, Oxford and Croydon expected later this year.
