Waitrose has announced a two-year partnership with Deliveroo, after a successful trial phase between the two companies.

Waitrose has promised to expand its Deliveroo service from 40 to 150 stores around the country, supplying food to some 13 million people, by the end of the summer.

The latest expansion creates up to 400 Waitrose roles to fulfil orders that can be picked up and shipped in from Deliveroo.

James Bailey, managing director of Waitrose, which lies outside the John Lewis Partnership, said: 'We have grown our online business at pace in the last year, responding to huge demand for online groceries and offering more choice in when and how people want to shop with us.'
