The Latest on Edinburgh’s St James Centre Development

Wednesday, January 22, 2020

Due to open in October this year, the St James Centre development is coming along nicely; though it’s agreed a lot of us will be sad to see the Edinburgh skyline a little more crane-less, who would’ve thought!

As we approach the exciting grand opening, more businesses have come forward with announcements on their confirmed tenancy.  The latest tenants to be revealed are YO! Sushi, @pizza and Five Guys, who will all be located in the Lower Galleria Food Court.  These food brands already have locations between Princes Street, Frederick Street, Fort Kinnaird and Fountain Park, so it’s unclear if they’ll shut as part of their move or not.

Clothing stores have also been confirmed to open up Next, Pull & Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius and Edinburgh’s first Mango store have also been announced, as well as a five-screen Everyman cinema.

Zara is also going to enter the centre, occupying a three-floor store in the main shopping area, covering 37,000 sq-ft.

There are also talks around the Edinburgh council seeking a limit to the new St James Centre car park as part of their 10-year plan to improve the city mobility and reduce the need for cars, making more of the surrounding area pedestrian friendly.  St James Centre is due to build a 1,600-space car park, but may be reduced as time goes on.
