The Last McDonald’s-Free County in England Has Been Conquered by the Golden Arches

Wednesday, January 15, 2020

Rutland is the last county in England to be kissed by the golden rays of McDonald’s, having put off any plans to build a site in the worry that the arrival would damage the local economy, increase litter and even cause a drop in house prices in the area.

However, the council listened to the opposing argument that this new site could bring more employment opportunities and even bring the town out of the “Dark Ages”, according to Oakham’s own mayor, David Romney.

Rutland currently has no Burger King or KFC, making McDonald’s the new hotspot for fast food lovers.

The decision to go forward with plans went through last night (14th of January).

The fast food giant currently operates around 1,300 sites and employs around 120,000 people within the UK, and this opening will create at least 65 new work opportunities.
