Pizza Express £55m Loss

Thursday, May 2, 2019

Amongst the high street brands in the casual dining sector closing over the UK last year, Pizza Express has also been hit, causing speculation about the future of the chain, seeing a pre-tax loss of £55m in 2018 following the struggle to hold sales for trading in the UK and overseas.

The accounts show that the overall revenue increased by 1.6%, however the like-for-like sales in the UK and Ireland came to a 0.9% decline.  After opening 26 restaurants overseas, 20% of its total sales are now made up from international markets.
