McDonalds announces it will reopen all UK and Ireland restaurants in June.

McDonalds has announced it will reopen all its restaurants across the UK and Ireland for drive-thru or delivery by 4 June.

The fast-food chain has been experimenting with 33 trial branches over the past month, operating using a limited menu and reduced opening hours.

Staff will be protected with Perspex screens installed at drive-thru windows and throughout the kitchens. Each employee will have their temperature checked before they begin a shift and will be given protective masks and gloves to wear.

Opening hours will be limited to 11am – 10pm, which will mean breakfast is excluded from their menu.

Customers will also be limited for a £25 spend and are encouraged to use contactless payment methods where possible.

McDonalds has also warned that if drive-thru lanes get so busy that disruption is caused or staff safety is put at risk, they will temporarily close the drive-thru. McDonalds says it is working closely with local authorities to ensure minimal disruption.
