Leon Thompson Named Executive Director UKHospitality Scotland

Friday, March 26, 2021

UKHospitality is pleased to announce today the appointment of Leon Thompson as Director of UKHospitality Scotland.

Leon replaces present Director Willie Macleod, who has been retiring from a role which has established him as a highly respected and indomitable partner in the hospitality industry and in politics.

Thompson, a senior professional in senior political communication who came to work at VisitScotland in 2013, has led the political agenda.

Thompson has been head of VisitScotland's policy agenda since 2013 and contributed to developing influential networks among ministers, MSPs, cabinet secretaries, and influential industry groups.

Thompson played a leading role in establishing the body as a leading force for Scottish tourism and hospitality.

Macleod is resigning as Scottish CEO of the British Hospitality Association (BHA) and then UKHospitality, after almost 10 years.

Thompson is slated to take the role on May 4th.

UKHospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls expressed her gratitude to Willie Macleod for UKHospitality chief executive Kate Nicholls' involvement in UKHospitality and Scotland's hotel and tourism industry and welcomed Leon to the UKHospitality team.
