Deliveroo to Let Restaurants Show Calorie Information on App

Tuesday, January 22, 2019

With 2019 beginning with Veganuary, it is safe to say that 2019 may be the year of health, eco and food awareness, and to join in with the hopes of making healthy eating a more accessible option, Deliveroo has enabled restaurants to display calorie information for their dishes.  Some of the brands that are interested in showing this information are Pho, KFC, Jamie’s Italian, Barburrito and more.  Deliveroo is also working with their restaurant partners to create healthy dishes, doing so by collaborating with nutritionist Rhiannon Lambert.

It was found that 54% of consumers would like there to be information on the calorie amount for the food they order, according to a poll commissioned by Deliveroo themselves.

With such an accessible app, providing amazing food whenever you desire, Deliveroo wanted to become that bit better by not only already providing some healthy restaurant options, but by providing them with information about the food they eat.

Perhaps this will end the stigma that all takeaway food is bad for you, or simply to help people become more mindful – either way, we’re excited to see if other places in the industry will follow suit.
