Bulmer's cider maker C&C turns profit, fuelling uncertainty for pubs

Sunday, July 4, 2021

C&C, the leading, vertically integrated premium beverage company making, distributing and selling branded beers, ciders, wines, spirits and soft drinks throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland today announced a trading update ahead of today's general meeting.

Chief executive David Forde said: 'Despite restrictions still in place and confirmed delays to full reopening, we remain cautiously optimistic about the gradual recovery of the hospitality sector in our core markets of the UK and Ireland, and we look forward to continuing to support our customers as restrictions are removed.

Although we are still in the early stages of re-opening in our key markets, we are heartened by the way trade has recovered in Britain since its gradual re-opening in April 2021 and in Ireland starting on June 7 2021, when the outdoor hospitality was re-opened.

In the week to last Sunday, C & C delivered 82 percent of their stores over the same period of the last 2019 years. Since social isolation and limitations remain in interiors the volume flow will be affected by customers currently operating a system.
