Boots UK are Trialling a Deposit Return Scheme in Scotland

Thursday, August 22, 2019

Sustainability has been a growing thing in the UK, especially in the hospitality industry, and Boots are a prime example.  With their unbleached paper bags replacing plastic carrier bags, we were really anticipating what to expect next and now it’s here.

In Perth (High Street) and Glasgow (Sauchiehall Street) there is a trial Deposit Return Scheme, which will introduce reverse vending machines into the two stores.  Customers will be able to return empty plastic, glass and metal drink containers between 50ml and 3 litres.

Every drink container that is deposited by the customer will be returned with a voucher with 10 Boots Advantage Card points and there will be a maximum of 25 containers for each transaction.

If all goes well this could be introduced to a Boots store near you.
