As we near the end of another year, we begin to think about what we have done, what we wish we had done and what we hope for in the future. It is a reflective time for us all around the world, for the people who have started their dream job, to the families that came together through times of love and times of comfort. Perhaps the shared thing amongst us all, is the thought of “what if I did this” or “I wish I could do this next year, but…”
So let’s remove the “what if’s” and the “buts”, turn the regret of not doing something this year into the determination to do so next year, or next week, or even tonight.
We live too much of our lives in fear. Fear of what’s to come, fear of what isn’t; we often scare ourselves into staying put, in a new reality we call comfort, yet know is denial. Go for that job, buy the house, and sell your artwork like you haven’t been putting it off for years. The world is what we make of it. If we worry about the future, we will never move forward.
As we let go of the past, we should let go of the fear and worries too. Though fear is a natural part of life and is a good instinct to have, it can often become something a little bit more consuming. It pairs up with any doubt and becomes a hurdle between you and your desired success; so what if we take it away? Don’t fight the fear, as you will be in an ongoing battle, but let’s face the fears instead.
Think up a plan, prepare yourself for anything and accept that whatever you worry about could happen, but even at that, can be handled anyway. In my previous article, I mentioned about failing forward and that is something to keep in mind going into 2019. Whatever you fear can be managed, and if anything goes wrong, it can be turned into something wonderful to learn and grow from.
Let us all go into 2019 remembering that it is our choice, we are in charge of our destiny and however we choose to view the world is how it will seem to us. Wake up, remember that today is a good day to have a good day, and that no fear is worth ruining the life we aspire to have.
